I read online that because millennials are having kids later and later, their dogs have, in a way, become their kids. From buying homes so their dogs have a yard and stocking up on trendy dog toys like it’s a job the new reality is that DOGS rule the house. And, our house is NO exception.
I plan everything around our two rescue pups Tyson and Tillie. J and I LOVE to take them hiking, buy them new toys, get them special Birthday and Christmas Gifts and, the list goes on and on. SO, when I heard that people had started baking their own treats for their dogs instead of buying store bought I felt like a TERRIBLE dog mom.
I run two companies, try to spend as much time as possible with friends and families and rarely get around to baking treats for us, let alone our pups. So, I just didn’t really have the time to devote to finding a recipe on my own – that’s where Knead Love Bakeshop came in. Knead Love makes dog biscuit baking mix made with all natural organic ingredients that you literally add water to and pop in the oven! It could not be any easier, and there’s no mess to clean up when you’re done.
Plus, they come in a variety of flavors too— Peanut Butter Banana and Chicken & Sweet Potato were Tyson and Tillie’s favorites! They also just launched a grain free version of the Cheese and Carrot Mix that we can’t wait to have the dogs try out.
How to Make Homemade Dog Treats
NOTE: What’s so cool about Knead Love Bakeshop is that the container the mix comes in actually becomes a treat jar when all is said and done. So make sure that you don’t throw it away!
First up, grab the mix container and take the bag a out. Then, simply flip the dry ingredients into the bag, add water and knead until it forms a paste-like consistency.
Then cut the bag at the corner and pipe the treats onto a baking pan. We chose to use a mini muffin tin we had instead just to get a muffin-shape for the treats! We baked ours for about 35 minutes, but you can add more or less time to get them soft or crunchy. Our dogs liked them a bit softer for reference!
Because Knead Love Bakeshop’s treats are organic and contain no preservatives it’s best to refrigerate the treats after baking to keep their freshness!
