Have you been thinking about bringing plants into your home, but don’t know where to start? Or, which plants to choose?
You wouldn’t guess it from my Instagram, but I’ve only considered myself a “plant lady” for about a year. In fact, before that I would have told you I had a black thumb.
Here’s what I’ve learned in the past year:
- The type of plants you choose should be determined by how much light your home gets (spoiler alert: we get a lot of light).
- Are you a beginner, intermediate or experienced plant parent? Know your skills and the amount of work you’re willing to take on before bringing a new plant home.
- Plant placement is about WAY MORE than an aesthetic. Just like people, different plants need different locations (humidity, light etc.)
I feel like I should tell you my plants are NEVER all in the same room, this was just for watering purposes and this post. But, WOW did I realize what a jungle I actually have when I did this. For those who are curious here are all of the plants you’ll find in my home (in no particular order, I don’t play favorites).
My Plants:
Pilea
Monstera
Philodendren
Pothos (Silver, Golden, Marble Queen)
Snake Plant
Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree
Audrey Ficus
Aloe Plant
Prickly Pear Cactus
Dracaena Plant
If you’re just starting out, i’d highly recommend the Monstera, Pothos varieties or Snake Plant and steer clear of the Fiddle Leaf Fig, Audrey Ficus or Dracaena!
XO,
K
