This week has been one for the books! With the move, the Fourth and work, i’ve been swamped. Whenever i’m in a pinch for time I crave burgers. They’re simple, delicious and make J and I both happy! To cut back on unnecessary carbs, i’ve started making sliders instead of full burgers and these Honey Bacon Sliders are to die for! Trust me, this is one recipe you’ll be thanking me for later.
So, these Honey Bacon sliders are officially my new go-to summer recipe. I actually can’t stop eating them. My mom used to make the most incredible burgers growing up. She adds onion, A1 and bacon that always had my family begging for more. These sliders are a mini version of her recipe and they’re something I plan on making all the way into football season.
What’s not to love about these sliders? I’m a firm believer that bacon makes everything taste better (I got it from my mama), and boy do they do the trick for these. I always bake my bacon drizzled in honey and it adds the perfect amount of flavor to these bad boys. And, the buttery buns are just too delicious. I make them from dinner rolls in the bakery section- SO good!
- 2 lbs ground round
- salt
- fresh pepper
- 1 cup chopped yellow onion
- 2 T. A1
- 2 T. Heinz 57
- half a tsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1 packet bacon
- Honey drizzle
- Package of 12 dinner rolls
- Swiss Cheese slices
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and preheat outdoor grill.
- Lay bacon on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes turning once. When crispy, remove from oven and drizzle with honey. Add buns to oven (wrapped in tin foil) and bake for 30 minutes!
- While bacon is cooking, mix all meat ingredients with hands and shape into slider size balls and flatten.
- Grill burgers for 4 minutes per side (or until at desired temp) add cheese and let melt.
- Assemble and enjoy!
As a tip, I like to serve them with a fresh vegetable (i’m looking at you corn on the cobb) or a light salad. Fair warning, you’ll easily be able to eat 3 of these, but the slider trick only works if you stop at 2!
You’ll be happy to know that these also taste great the next day – so don’t feel like you have to eat them all in one sitting!
Enjoy!
