Happy Friday my lovely friends! Hopefully your week has been fantastic! But, if not, these Frozen Summer Strawberry Margaritas might just turn it around in time for the weekend. Don’t worry, i’ve got you covered! So, turn off your work computer, throw on a floppy hat and make yourself a Margarita because…it’s finally the WEEKEND!
Most likely you’ve been bombarded with margarita recipes for years, right? Well, I was right there with you. Until I perfected the recipe for these that is. Don’t worry your search for the perfect strawberry frozen margarita is finally over. Now, you can just sit back and enjoy it! The secret to this recipe is time (and good tequila). I let the frozen mixture sit for between 3 and 4 hours. It gives it the perfect consistency and will have guests begging you for more. If the time scares you off, don’t let it. My secret is to make these every Friday at lunch so that they’re ready right around when 5 o’clock comes around.
- 1 container strawberries (without stems) or fruit of choice
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 oz. silver tequila (I used patron)
- 1.5 oz triple sec
- Juice of 3 fresh limes
- Sugar
- In a food processor, puree strawberries or your fruit of choice. Set aside.
- In a pan, combine sugar and water and stir until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Stir.
- Mix the tequila mix and pureed fruit together in the blender. Blend well.
- Pour mixture into a baking dish and place in freezer for 1.5 hours. Using a fork, mix the mixture. Return to freezer and let sit for 1.5 to 2 more hours mixing every 30 minutes.
- Add sugar to rim of a margarita glass and pour mixture in. Enjoy!
One of my favorite things about this recipe is that the fruit can be substituted for anything you like. So far, i’ve tested raspberry and blackberry and have to say they have both been fantastic. But, who am I kidding Strawberry always wins out in our house (it’s J’s fav). Now that it’s summer I can’t help but make these all the time. Anyone else just need a fun frozen drink when it’s hot out? Hoping its not just me (ha!). We’ll see how much I crave them now that I’m in Florida, but I guess i’m allowed to make them since we really are living in Margaritaville. Priorities, right?
Hope you all enjoy these – and if you try a new flavor let me know what it was in the comments below! Happy Friyay!
xoxo,
Kenzie
