Have you ever looked at your calendar and realized it’s been ages since you’ve gone to the gym? We’ve all been there. No matter how great you are at sticking to a routine, the second life gets just a tad busy we cut the gym and opt for a nice, big glass of wine instead. But, i’ve finally figured out a few simple tricks to staying healthy and fit, despite my busy routine.
Fill Up With Healthy Foods
My number one tip for looking and feeling good is filling your fridge with healthy foods. If you’re schedule is so busy that you’re having a hard time getting to the gym, you can still easily eat well. Every Sunday, J and I write out our meal plan for the week and, despite how busy our schedules get, we stick to it. Doing that keeps us healthy and feeling good. Need healthy recipe inspo? Refresh Your Workout Gear
Something about new clothes always get’s my butt back in gear and ready to head to gym. I got a new pair of running sneakers and some adorable new shorts for Christmas and they instantly made me want to head out for a run. Plus, the athleisure trend is everywhere right now, so you can get away with wearing leggings while running errands during the day. I’ve been giving my fitness routine a boost with my new Sweetflexx leggings. They have built-in resistance bands that help you burn more calories than usual. Want your own? Make Your Workout Fun
Not a fan of running? Don’t do it. The most important part of creating a fitness routine is making it fun. My friend and I were both getting tired of running, so we’re starting to go to spinning classes together 3 times a week. Or, if you want a more relaxed fitness routine try out yoga. There are SO many options for a great workout so find one that you enjoy and it won’t feel like such an awful task.
Find a Time That Works For You
I love to workout in the mornings. Trust me, I know that sounds insane. But, when I workout in the mornings I feel so much better throughout the day. J, on the other hand, loves to sleep in and workout after work. I’ve found that no matter what you prefer it’s important to workout when your body feels it’s best. Once you’ve found the right time for you, build it into your schedule 3-5 times a week and soon enough you’ll find that you’ll naturally want to workout.
Make Cooking at Home Fun and Easy
The busier I get the more I want to order a pizza. Anyone with me? But, I’ve started a new goal where I only eat out twice a week, which means J and I cook for pretty much every meal. My secret? Search Pinterest for quick 10 minute healthy meals and see what you enjoy. This Chicken, Avocado Caprese Salad Recipe is one of our favorites.
