It’s fair to say that i’ve been a little pom pom obsessed ever since I bought my pom pom maker a few weeks ago. And, since we’re still decorating our new apartment, i’ve been pom poming everything! Today, i’m sharing how to make this adorable DIY Giant Pom Pom Throw. And, trust me – it’ SO simple!
The best part about this project is that it’s completely customizable. Our apartment is filled with whites, blues and golds. So I made my throw based on that color scheme. I’d recommend keeping the blanket more neutral and adding color in through the pom poms. Keep reading to learn how to make your very own pom pom throw.
Materials
Simple throw (I found mine at Home Goods)
2 colors of yarn
Scissors
Needle
Jumbo pom pom maker
Step One: Make your Pom Poms
Begin by using your pom pom maker to create your pom poms. Not sure how to use it? Check out this post. Once you’ve made the pom poms leave the large string that you tie them with, instead of trimming it, to attach your pom pom to the blanket. I suggest making each pom pom really thick by wrapping each side of the maker 2 – 3 times. This will help to make sure your pom poms are full.
Step Two: Lay your Pom Poms out
Spread your blanket out on the floor. Starting at the corner, lay out where your pom poms should be attached. I chose to alternate the colors on my blanket. I also chose to just eyeball where each pom pom should attach, but you can always use a ruler or tape measure.
Step Three: Attach the Pom Poms
Attach the pom poms by using a large needle and slowly poking the string that holds the pom pom together through the blanket. Then, take the other side of the string and tie a knot on the back side of the blanket. Make sure these are tied well so that your blanket doesn’t fall apart!
That’s it! Now snuggle up, grab some coffee and enjoy your new DIY Giant Pom Pom throw!

K
