Hello, lovelies – I hope you’re having the BEST week! Fresh garden flowers, old-school vases and sunshine are just a few of my favorite things. So, today i’m sharing how they all come together to make 3 perfect DIY floral centerpieces for your next summertime soiree.
Nothing beats our fresh flowers, especially when they look (and smell) as good as they do in the summer. That being said, flowers can get really expensive, really quick. Luckily, i’m spilling how I made these three centerpieces for under $15!
How to make my floral arrangements:
Step One: Shop smart.
Raise your hand if you have a hard time picking out flowers? Girl, I feel you. I get so distracted when i’m staring at too many pretty blooms. So much so, that it’s hard to pick just a few! For this centerpiece I wanted it to feel like it was straight from a field, so I chose a simple combination of wild flowers and greenery. To lower the cost of your centerpiece, head to your local flower market to pick up your blooms – they are SO much cheaper. Don’t have one? Hit up your local Trader Joes – they have amazing flowers at an affordable price (that’s where I swiped these). Tip: Look for flowers towards the top of the bin, they tend to be fresher.
Step Two: Choose your vase.
A vase really determines the overall feel of your centerpiece. To keep up with the wild theme, I grabbed three Weck jars from Crate and Barrel that I had laying around my house. But, you could easily use Mason Jars to create a similar look. Once, you’ve chosen the vase fill it about 3/4 the way full with water. Tip: Make sure to change your water out every day or so to keep your flowers alive longer.
Step Three: Divide your flowers.
I like to make each of my arrangements relatively even. To do so, I start with one type of flower and add it to each of my three vases. Normally, I like to begin with the shrubbery and add the remaining flowers around it, so that they’re more prominent. For this look I added about 7 stems per arrangement to make it look full. Tip: Make sure to cut your stems at an angle before adding them to the arrangements – they will last longer!
That’s it! Now, you can officially call yourself a florist AND admire your three floral arrangements. Let me know how yours turned out in the comments below!
