If we’re being completely honest, I was on the blazer trend before it was really even a thing. This rarely happens, but I’ve been wearing them for years. In fact, my trusty navy blazer took me to my first Big Girl job interview, and my Kate Spade knit blazer was what I reached for whenever I needed an extra burst of confidence on Capitol Hill. Let’s be real – Blazers are back, and they’re looking better than ever.
Everywhere you turn you see a new blazer – from school boy to ruffled you can find one to go with any outfit. My exact blazer sold out online, but luckily i’m rounding up five of my absolute favorites to help get you through the winter. I’m also sharing a few tips on how to style each one, so scroll down and find the blazer that suits you best (no pun intended).
SchoolBoy
Undoubtedly this has been the blazer i’ve worn effortlessly for years. Over jeans or dress it can be paired with anything, for any occasion. I love that this one gold button details and the slim fit, it’s flattering on just about anyone! I’d suggest buying your first blazer in Navy – but, hey, I guess i’m preppy at heart.
Check
I’ve been seeing this ASOS Check Blazer everywhere (similar here and here). It’s a great way to make a classic look a little more trendy. I’d pair this with a trendier black denim skirt or even a leather skirt for those who are a bit more adventurous!
Velvet
No one does blazers quite like JCREW, so it’s no surprise that i’m entirely smitten with there new collection of Velvet Blazers (here and here). I’m not sure there’s anything more perfect for the holiday season! In fact, my mom used to have one that I would wear around constantly, so this will certainly be making its way into my cart.
Tweed
I’ve had a tweed blazer since 7th grade. No, really. I attended quite a few political fundraisers as a kid, and tweed was a must. Needless to say, it’s grown on me and now I simply can’t get enough. I’d throw this (or this) over a pair of jeans for a timeless look!
Ruffled
There is nothing more adorable than ruffles, so it’s no surprise i’m showing off the blazer trend in this ruffled number from JCREW. It’s elegant, timeless and feminine. I also love this blush version from TopShop!
Styling Tips:
A blazer is one of those classic wardrobe staples that can make nearly any outfit look timeless. I tend to throw them on with a pair of jeans, a nice blouse and some pointy flats for work. But, I’ve also been known to switch out the flats for heels and the blouse for a silk cami and wear a blazer to get drinks with friends. They’re so versatile, you’ll have no shortage of ways to wear them!
If you’re not one for jeans 1) wow, i’m impressed and 2) don’t worry you can still wear a good blazer! I’ve been seeing tons of bloggers and stylists pair a shorter blazer with a mini skirt and OTK boots. It’s the perfect mix of elegance and edge, with the versatility to go from day to night.
