Fan of the ever-popular and oh so millennial Avocado Toast? Yep, me too. I probably eat it three times a week with a dash of Everything But the Bagel Seasoning and Egg in the Spring and Summer. Though as the air has begun to get a little crisper and the greenery change to orange, yellow and red i’ve found myself gravitating towards flavors like Apples, Pumpkin and Cinnamon. So, I figured why not take my Fall cravings and turn it into a brand new toast recipe. Apple, Gouda Breakfast Toast with Honey and Thyme to be exact.
I realize that this is less of a recipe per se – and, more just instructions. It is – after all – just toast. But, it’s simply delicious with a hint of sweetness complimented by the crisp flavor of a apples.
There are two things about this toast that really are non-negotiables, in my opinion. The first, is that you use a Honeycrisp Apple. The second, is that you purchase a loaf of Croissant bread. I purchase mine at Trader Joe’s and it really does make all the difference in putting this together. If you’re trying to be even healthier, you could opt for a grain bread – but, I highly recommend indulging!
Ingredients
- 4 slices of croissant bread (TJs has the best)
- 1 Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Slice of Gouda
- a few sprigs of fresh thyme
Directions
Toast your bread according to preference.
While bread is still warm, layer with Gouda Cheese and top with Apply Slices.
Drizzle honey over the apples and put a tiny bit of fresh thyme on top. Enjoy!
