Happy Thursday, loves! This week has been a busy one. As you’ve probably seen on Instagram Stories, I’ve jetted off to Phoenix for a few days for work. The weather is gorgeous and gave me a much needed break from the cold Indy Temps, but I miss my guys. I’ll be excited to get home tonight and spend the weekend curled up with them on the couch binge watching Made In Chelsea (my latest obsession.) Don’t knock it until you give it a shot! It’s like the Hills in England (hah!).
Confession time: I hate going out on Valentine’s Day. I love the holiday itself, but can’t stand the crowds that come with it. More often than not Jordon and I will celebrate out on the town the day before and opt for a romantic day at home on February 14th. Hence, the inspiration behind today’s post.
I’ve seen so many posts about dinners to make at home or cocktails to prepare like I shared earlier this week. But, rarely do you find posts that point out how to plan for a Romantic Valentine’s Day at home. J and I always love starting our day together, so I figured i’d share a few ways to make a Valentine’s morning a bit more romantic. Without further ado, here are my Top 5 Tips…
Start With A Sweet Treat
It’s so fun to indulge on February 14th, and there’s no better way to do it than by starting your day off with something sweet. We just discovered this adorable Donut shop a few blocks down the street, and now J and I are absolutely hooked. I have no shame in admitting i’ll be purchasing a half dozen the day before to eat Valentine’s Day morning.
If you’re up for cooking, I know you’ll love these Silver Dollar Funfetti Pancakes – they’re a go-to around our house.
Unplug
I’ll admit that I’m the worst when it comes to putting down my phone or computer when we’re at home, but there’s nothing that kills the romance more than a phone. Putting it down shows you care and helps focus your attention solely on your significant other.
My advice? Take it as a time to start your morning on a high note and catch up on what you may have missed. Grab a cup of Jo and have 15 minutes or so of pure, uninterrupted conversation – it’s a blessing!
Dress Up
Anyone else #TeamSweatpants? Same. 99% of the time i’m right there with you, but on Valentines Day I say goodbye to my PJs and hello to a cute, but casual at home date look.
I recommend a a simple blush top like this best seller at J.Crew (also comes in grey, black and navy), paired with a simple necklace, low-key makeup and a pair of flattering jeans.
Set the Scene
It doesn’t take much to add a romantic spin to your home! I’ve added a few bouquets of flowers and some candles to set the mood. Looking for more? Try out this adorable DIY Floral Garland I created last year, it was such a sweet addition to our day.
Mix Up a Morning Cocktail
Is it really a surprise i’m suggesting a cocktail? Grab some champagne and orange juice and put together a mimosa. Or, opt for a Bloody Mary – that’s J’s favorite!
