This time has brought out a lot of anxiety and uncertainty for so many. We’re so very fortunate to be able to stay home and safe, but it doesn’t take an expert to realize that the added isolation doesn’t help feelings of anxiety. So, I thought i’d share a few ways that I’ve learned to cope with my anxiety at home. I hope these ideas inspire you to try something knew, or even just take a few minutes for you today.
Cook A Meal
Sure, I’ve gotten tired of the same old boring meals we cooked night after night just a few months ago. But, I’d be lying if I said we hadn’t enjoyed trying new, slightly fancier recipes at home during Social Distancing. A few favorites have been Panzanella Salad and this Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe. It’s been a great way to take our minds off of everything, and have an at-home, stress-free date night.
Create A Home Plant Oasis
When in stress, add plants. Plants are known for boosting air quality and moods, but few people know that they can actually de-stress too. If you’re looking for a new at-home hobby, try ordering a few plants via Amazon. You can find my recommendations here!
Take A Bath
Without fail over Quarantine i’ve spent each evening taking a 15-30 minute bath to relieve stress, relax, and put my phone down. If you’re looking for a way to make it feel spa-like, try adding bath salts, a bath bomb, bubbles, candles and turn the lights down.
Light Some Candles
Up your candle intake from one to four. Light a few candles, put on some music and spend a few minutes unplugged. It’s amazing how comforting a few simple candles can be.
Diffuse Essential Oils
I’ve had my Vitruvi Diffuser on full blast throughout Quarantine, and it has truly brought so much peace to our home. My personal favorite scents are orange and lavender.
Try A New Cocktail
Try switching your nightly glass of wine for a fancy at-home cocktail instead. It’s an easy way to try something new and distract yourself from work. Our favorite at-home recipes can be found here.
Watch A Movie
We’ve been skipping shows and opting for movie nights instead. Amazon Prime some candy and popcorn, build a fort and make it an experience for some extra fun.
Try A Fitness Class
At-home fitness classes are EVERYWHERE. Try your hand at Yoga, Pilates or something more as a quick 30-minute break from work and T.V.
Rearrange Your Home
Staring at your home and only seeing things you want to change? Shop your house! I’ve been updating our home by moving furniture around, updating our rugs, shifting decor, adding new bedding from Magic Linen and more!
Read A Book
I’m the world’s worst reader normally. But, it’s been so relaxing to slow down, pick up a book and shut off technology. Taking your mind out of your world and into a book is the ultimate de-stresser.
