Where are you from?
How much time do you have? No, really. J and I have moved a lot over the past 7 years. To sum it up: I grew up in Indiana, went to school in Florida and started my career, and this blog, in Washington, D.C.
Do you blog full time?
Not yet! I currently work 9-5 (and, often a whole lot more) as the social media strategist for one of the major sports venues in Indianapolis. It’s so funny, because i’m the least athletic person in the world, but love my job in the sports industry! One day soon I hope to take on the blog as my full-time job.
Where do you live?
If you haven’t guessed it by now, J and I live in Carmel, IN – a small suburb just outside of Indianapolis. We certainly do miss D.C., but are happy to be back home.
Favorite place you’ve traveled?
No place will ever come close to South Africa for me. J and I got married there in 2016, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Blogging & Photography
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I was searching for a creative outlet while working as a press secretary on Capitol Hill. I fell in love with social media and the community that Simply J and K built, so it’s become my side hustle and such a big passion project of mine.
What advice would you give a blogger that’s just starting out?
My number one piece of advice is to find what makes you unique and stick to it. It’s becoming more and more difficult to make a name for yourself in this space, because there are tons and tons of blogs out there. But, putting out fresh, unique content helps your blog stand out.
What kind of camera do you use and who takes your photos?
I also use a 50mm lens to get that “blurry” look for all of my outfit shots. I’m super lucky and J takes all of my blog shots, apart from a few that my mom takes. It’s super important to have friends and family that help out – and i’m so grateful for mine. If you see photos from the start of this blog, you’ll notice we’ve learned and grown A LOT in the past few years.
How did you meet your husband?
J and I met back in High School – my best friend actually introduced us! You can see our full story on How He Asked.
